I am honoured by your presence
you are shining my brightness
back to me
and I would love to hold on

You are only here for a moment
because your light, your clear mirror
is needed for special purposes
and because you know

it is your destiny to follow
this yearning to the ends of the earth
(and back again)

The deepest compassion exists
for your journey. For the struggle
that opens before you
of belonging

I can hold the turnings of your heart
and mind in my heart
because I know it will pass
I know you will pass

And I know there’s no wrong decision
only what is present
And this is all I can
reflect back to you

When I stepped on the plane at Gatwick
To return to the Brazilian resting place
Of my heart (oh what a leap of faith that was)
I think a subtle shattering occurred

I wish I’d had some way of knowing
That it was me who had changed too much
To follow him, even out of love
A fire rebelled and the magnetism lent

Inwards, back to my deepest home
Where, no matter how far I wonder
I always and must return to her

It is a confusing time
Of honouring myself
And clearly so in love
With a dream in distant shores

And then in the most shattering one liner
(I have found someone else)
All of the cosmos now becomes
My navigatable territory

Home is not big enough
My life is not big enough
God is not big enough
And all of this hurts in a way that asks me

To be as vast as my pain

not knowing (3 Sept 2009)

it’s nice to know it doesn’t
matter, your decision
is only for the next phase
to begin, like a flag
drawn down the mast
silence replaces the
flapping wind

for a split second everything
dies in the exhale
pause in that long
gap
of not knowing

and then fly your flag
up against the sun
there’s no knowing if it
changed
anything at all
from what was choreographed
in the very beginning

before the spring
eruption of our cosmic newness
there exists a silence

akin to waiting
like possibilities sitting
under the snow

breathing a deeper earth
rhythm, slower than the days
and nights, slower than a storm

cloud, it bides and hums this
dance. I am still
ever growing readiness, frozen

in the highest realms, mountains
growing faster, the whole earth
readying what is underneath

from molten core to the new
alpine flower fluttering its
first fragrance into the wind

of nowhere, there I am
dancing the perfect tempo
of ‘not my will’

like the air full of moisture
not yet rained
like the kitten watching her
  twitching tail

like the vows poised at the
unfolding ‘I do’, we must
  (come together)

it already is

it is not a must that says I want
no desire sits behind what
  simply is, a compelling

natural order, a twin soul
completion, this Must! is a continuing
to be
  together

for this?
to hear again

we are made of the same
stone; to build, shelter shade
and shine

but we are not made
of the same stone to bind
and stop time

all lines on this palm

point another way
all predict something further
away than a breath of ours

so why is there a thread of hope
still and seeking
and falling

can a seed fall outside
destiny and fate?

I was born to love
you and adore
life so holy and beautiful

it does not matter
my demands are nothing
but to live in my nature

true love and touch with
dancing fingers and palms
on oiled skin, sensual

crook of neck, yes for me
to explore, and hide
for a whole day, a whole life

time not on my side
(for there is none)
and in this way, I can play

with you forever
